I walk behind to catch them if they fall.
I cut up their food.
I speak slowly so they’ll understand.
I make sure they get nap time.
These are some of the tasks I did when the nest was full.
Now I do them for my dear parents, as they did them for me…

Another stretch of the path taken since the kids left the nest…
Her: I can’t believe you haven’t said it yet.
Him: You mean…
Her: Yes! That!
Him: Okay. Here goes…This is truly a grand canyon.
Yellow: Looking forward to the next stop on the “Goodbye-to-The-West” tour?
Red: Are you kidding? Did you know that the Grand Canyon was formed by the uplifting of the Colorado plateau and erosion caused by the Colorado River over a period of 6 million years?
Yellow: Uh huh.
Red: It’s 277 miles long, ranges in width from 4 to 18 miles, and attains a depth of more than a mile?
Yellow: Yes, you mentioned that, too. Twice.
Red: Nearly two billion years of the Earth’s history can be observed in the layers of exposed rock.
Yellow: Did you pack the earplugs?

When Chick #1 and his lovely and talented girlfriend get up at 6:30 AM on a Saturday morning and drive 1.5 hours to New Haven to watch Chick #2 on the water for exactly 5 minutes and 43.9 seconds.
